we interrupt this fashion week newscast to bring you an update on the other major holiday happening this week: schmalentine’s valentine’s day. for me, handmade valentines fall into the same category as homemade birthday parties, awkward-in-fifth-grade-but-totally-with-it-in-the-long-run. while receiving the tom brady valentine from my fourth grade crush remains an elementary school highlight there were definitely late nights spent carefully cutting out 21 paper hearts for classmates, those shoebox “valentine mailboxes,” remain one of my all-time favorite childhood memories. there was something about going around the classroom at the end of the day and putting valentines in the boxes that was almost as exciting as opening them all later that friday afternoon.
now for the 2.0:
bring on the cat stickers.

snapshots: old habits die hard, crafty edition. yours truly does the valentine workshop.

those valentine’s cards are adorable! We haven’t had this tradition of sending valentine’s cards when I was in high school but I did always get presents from my boyfriends, if you can call somebody your boyfriend being that young.
Anyway, I have made five valentine’s cards with my nephew(2 and a half years old) recently and he decide to give them to his “girlfriends” that probably means any girl he happens to see on the playground. Right now he think every girl he happens to like is his girlfriend:)
there’s a whole genre of things like this, that are maybe cool when you’re 5 and don’t know better, become reaaaally awkward in the middling years of school (well. i guess pretty much everything is really awkward in those years.), then make a retro comeback. add onesies and stuffed animals to the list.
happy valentine’s day!
